Hello there,
Here's what we're working on this week:
Language: In our word study, we will consolidate what we have learned about synonyms, antonyms, and homonyms.
In Writing, we are starting procedural writing. In Reading, we will begin looking at the way plot is structured in fiction.
Math: We are going deep into transformational geometry with a series of interactive lessons that start this week.
Science: We continue looking at the environmental impact of chemicals on soils, plants, and animals.
Social Studies: Grade 3s will be looking at the main sources of industry in Ontario and begin comparing it the industry in the Philippines. Grade 2s will be learning about the various communities in Toronto and eventually we will be comparing these communities to communities in Manila.
Last week, we discussed natural foods and processed foods. Continue this discussion at home and ask your child to find some of these foods around the home.
This week there isn't as much homework, but you should help your child prepare for this week's spelling quiz which will be a 10 word assortment of words taken from the lessons we have been through so far this year.
